The Velsvoir presentation at LCM 15 was, as mentionned previously, a sincere pleasure, as always. The boys presented a collection that took on more texture and patterns, and it felt like a smooth and natural progression. Bravo indeed.
Now, the thing that always strikes me about their events is that the crowd is fantastically friendly and social, and you want to stay past your planned exit time. Too many fashion week parties are full of – lets be honest – slightly pretentious crowds, poor drinks, lighting that makes you struggle to recognise even your best friend next to you, and music volumes that renders any form of conversation futile. Maybe Im getting old, -perhaps i always was – but i like to mingle at these things, and in order to do so i need to be able to see and hear…And Im happy to report that every single Velsvoir event is a pure joy to attend. I always leave with a host of new delightful aquaintances and an even greater admiration for the designer trio. I can’t wait for the next one.
Below is a small collection of some of the quality human beings i had the pleasure to meet, cudos to you all xx
The gorgeous Jeffery Scott, MUA extraordinaire, and Aiyla & Alex – the most beautifully tattooed models you’ll ever meet
The superstylish and supertalented boys from Rough Copy
And last but nnot least, Sarah Mulindwah, the stylist, and woman – full stop, with London’s best hair, and flawless sense of style.
You cannot miss Prince Cassius at LCM. He is the one with the always-immaculate-‘Fro, and always-immaculate outfit.
Im not sure this gent even owns a single pair of comfy-pants.
It was lovely to see a lot more DB action in the suit department this year, and more accessories, like the tie-pin, an understated favourite of mine.
I look forward immensely to see what sartorial gems Mr PC will be sporting during LFW!
When the weather gets really cold, and the Uggs start appearing, and the crowds prioritise warmth over style (why you have to choose one of the two baffles me. One is allowed to combine, is all I’m saying), I start to really miss Fashion Month. So here is a little reminder from Jean Paul Gaultier that despite the weather, there is a golden glow of attitude, glamour, playfulness and fabulousness to be found, it just takes a little more effort. I urge you all to make that effort and sprinkle some glamour and style back onto the otherwise bleak streets and pavements xx
Moooore LFW illustrations? Even thought we are almost at PFW? Yes. Oh yes. You will see outfits from LFW for a while yet. About another 10… I have a backlog the size of an Aye-Aye’s middle finger. But where’s the problem really, when the outfits and people are so fabulous? Especially in this case. How lovely to bump into Leandra Medine, aka the Man Repeller, after the Marios Schwab presentation. Always dressed in faultless casual fabulousness, she manages to make designer clothes look the way you always hope’d they’d look on a normal person, aka you (ok ME), however somehow it always fails when you (I) try…if anyone knows her secret please fill me in. This particular delicious ensemble is one kooky mix, but its all tied together by devastatingly awesome accessories. Apart from the whimsical Stella McCartney skirt (which by the way, is sold out everywhere but available at The Outnet for under half price!), Acne denim jacket and Rosie Assoulin top (do check her out, her stuff is A-mazing), take Particular Note of that Chloe bag, -that will be mine asap thanks, oh and the Celine brogues. YUM. And just a little subtle sparkle from bangles, watch and rings. YES. I approve. Not that she needs anyone’s approval. Perhaps that’s her secret.
Editor in chief of DIION magazine Kyle Lo, aka @kylelomonaco does one of my favourite things here, – men wearing opulent jewellery and OWNING it.
This particular stunner is by Pebble London, who take inspiration from tribal jewellery and nature, to create intricate and lustrous statement pieces.
I love the way this outfit lets the jewellery speak for itself, creating a bold and striking look that’s sure to grab attention from waaaaay across the yard.
Be sure to check out DIION for even more striking takes on aesthetics, it is a wonderfully refreshing digital collection of art and fashion of different media, pushing the boundaries of the ordinary and dictated.
Now, Men, please can you all wear more precious metals?
Meet Lolli, aka Lauren, aka The Girl Who Stole London, spottet in the BFC courtyard at Somerset House during London Fashion Week day 1.
I seriously lust after her paint-splatter ‘jackson pollock’-light dress, I need one asap.
Please, if found anywhere, send immediately.
Like, For real.
Another fabulous outfits from LFW Day 1, worn by Blogger/Stylist/Artist Chiddy at www.theslumflower.com
I looooove the red jumpsuit by Chelsea Bravo, and those earrings by Cristian Cowan-Sanluis are Su-Perb!!
In theory a most simplistic outfit, that without much clutter, says A LOT.
Bumping into the award winning bloggers Amy and Naomi from Two Shoes One Pair instantly brightened my day, and that says a lot, seeing I was spending my day at the BFC courtyard for LFW Day One. It was a peacock-fest as usual, but this time I was cautious with the camera trigger and only snapped what I wanted to illustrate later, and these girls were the first on my list. A lovely mix of textures, patterns, colours and layers – it could have easily been a disaster but this duo are masters at eclectic excess, and pulled it off with effortless cool and casual glamour. What a delight! You can follow the lovely pair on instagram here @twoshoesonepair and check out their blog at www.twoshoesonepair.com
stay tuned for more outfits!
Meet the King of Soho. This gentleman rocks the socks. He is a Soho staple and you will never see him in anything less than a suit, bow-tie, lapel-blossom, pocket square, fancy shoes and hat. He gets dressed up to go out the door – full stop. I love the discipline of it, the gentlemanly dapperness and swag he exudes, always, without fail. It’s his code to live by, and he has my full respect and adoration. He makes my day every time i spot him at one of the coffee shops. It leaves me with a big fat smile on my face.
It had to happen, sooner or later, that I added a category of objects. Objects of desire. And it happened rather quickly. It makes sense I suppose, because style is about aesthetics, and being a bonafide aestheti-file, it is impossible to limit my appreciation only to outfits. I have to include, in this blog, design objects I consider mind-blowingly delicious. I cling to the opinion that good design is always an honest and beautiful manifestation of the designer’s personality and view of the world, and believing that this is true, I would love to meet the creator of the gems fetured in this post’s illustration. His style makes me swoon!
So without further ado: Behold the genius that is Andres Gallardo. His delicate yet beautifully bold porcelain creations have captured my heart, and I lust after almost every piece he has ever created. But mostly I lust after the Lion and Leopard bags, I have never seen anything like it before, and I think it is pure genius. It speaks to all my aesthetic happy-triggers. One day they will both be mine, Oh yes they will.
