YES! Its that glorious time of year again – LFW and all the glorious beauty it has to bring.
Now for the first time since setting up this blog, hunting for beautiful people and outfits to illustrate, I find myself star-struck. Who do I bump into other than the simply and utterly DIVINE Immodesty Blaize at the LFW PPQ party!!!!!
In the dim lighting I didn’t even recognise her, other than the fact that she was the most beautiful and glamorous woman there, so when I innocently asked for her Instagram tag after having taken a reference photo, the words ‘@immodestyblaize’ seemed to linger for an eternity in my stunned mind, and all I could gracefully reply was ‘oh! its you!’. Smooth. My sincere apologies Miss Blaize, it’s just that you represent all that I think worth while in this world, that’s all. What a humble honour to be able to illustrate your gorgeous self, and thanks for the oodles of glamour you bring us xx
The Velsvoir presentation at LCM 15 was, as mentionned previously, a sincere pleasure, as always. The boys presented a collection that took on more texture and patterns, and it felt like a smooth and natural progression. Bravo indeed.
Now, the thing that always strikes me about their events is that the crowd is fantastically friendly and social, and you want to stay past your planned exit time. Too many fashion week parties are full of – lets be honest – slightly pretentious crowds, poor drinks, lighting that makes you struggle to recognise even your best friend next to you, and music volumes that renders any form of conversation futile. Maybe Im getting old, -perhaps i always was – but i like to mingle at these things, and in order to do so i need to be able to see and hear…And Im happy to report that every single Velsvoir event is a pure joy to attend. I always leave with a host of new delightful aquaintances and an even greater admiration for the designer trio. I can’t wait for the next one.
Below is a small collection of some of the quality human beings i had the pleasure to meet, cudos to you all xx
The gorgeous Jeffery Scott, MUA extraordinaire, and Aiyla & Alex – the most beautifully tattooed models you’ll ever meet
The superstylish and supertalented boys from Rough Copy
And last but nnot least, Sarah Mulindwah, the stylist, and woman – full stop, with London’s best hair, and flawless sense of style.
You cannot miss Prince Cassius at LCM. He is the one with the always-immaculate-‘Fro, and always-immaculate outfit.
Im not sure this gent even owns a single pair of comfy-pants.
It was lovely to see a lot more DB action in the suit department this year, and more accessories, like the tie-pin, an understated favourite of mine.
I look forward immensely to see what sartorial gems Mr PC will be sporting during LFW!
Nothing spruces up a cold and bleak January like an influx of stylish men! It can only mean LC:M.
It was the usual glorious 4 days of jam-packed peacocking, and I will share with you some of my favourite outfits over the next week or so.
It may serve as a nice band-aid for the dapper-withdrawal we are all experiencing.
First on the list is the LCM Velsvoir AW15 presentation at the beautiful Edition hotel, fabulous as always, I love the direction this luxury/bespoke brand is taking.
Shawl collar double breasted waistcoats, what’s not to adore!?!
See more of the brand and their collection on their website and instagram
When the weather gets really cold, and the Uggs start appearing, and the crowds prioritise warmth over style (why you have to choose one of the two baffles me. One is allowed to combine, is all I’m saying), I start to really miss Fashion Month. So here is a little reminder from Jean Paul Gaultier that despite the weather, there is a golden glow of attitude, glamour, playfulness and fabulousness to be found, it just takes a little more effort. I urge you all to make that effort and sprinkle some glamour and style back onto the otherwise bleak streets and pavements xx
This is the final street-style illustration from London Fashion Week. It was all over long ago, yet I’ve been clinging on via coloured pencils and pens, to the fabulous richness and sumptuousness of it all. And what an outfit to sign it all off with! Few men properly rock the socks in pink, and even fewer look this sh*t hot in a pink suit. For those who are wondering why it looks so amazing, take a few notes: Apart from having a great physique, it makes a huge difference how your suit is tailored. Note the slim fit, the pocket details, the narrow sleeves and the tapered not too short/not too long trousers. Men’s style is sometimes quite subtle, and what sets it apart from mediocre will all be in the details, so if you want to look sharp you gotta get them right. So take a little bow, or at least a little nod from where your sitting, to Mr Deigh Alexander Smith; Model agency founder, model, photographer, blogger. Granted, he should know a few things about looking good, and he certainly makes a regular fantastic effort. Don’t be surprised to see a full feature on him some day soon! In the meantime, follow him on instagram here, and see his street-style snaps here. xx
LWF isn’t just full of attention hungry style bloggers and fashion-world’ers. Mostly it is, but here is a stylish graphic designer for you to break the monotony. Casper Chan creates fabulous type-faces and illustrations for magazines and ad-campains around the world, check out his work at Disinlok, its really most wonderous. His instagram page is quite a wonder too. One of the real challenges of great style is how to look fab while wearing something casual and comfortable, and Casper’s blue jacket is casual indeed, yet look for the details in the zip-edging, stylized pockets and a semi-tailored look. Other fab details are tapered trousers, no socks, FABulous oxblood brogues, colour-pop belt and a statement manbag and a hat. Its a perfect attention-grabbing day look, while being both comfortable and practical. WIN. Don’t be afraid to accessorize boys! xx
No, not that Mr Draper. Mr @tuckmb over at @stylefannet. Don’t you just adore the pleated floaty fabulousness of the Issey? I do. Worn with the long utilitarian-style tunic the shimmery fabric really comes alive, and the whole ensemble excudes a certain futuristic-urban-warrior-monk kinda vibe. Oh how I miss the streetstyle saturation of LFW already.
Blonde Bombeshell artist Sarah Kinder aka @vera_london rocked 80’s vintage glam at LFW day 2. The simplistic glamour of this suit and turtleneck is given just the right amount of attitude with a touch of spiky peroxide and fierce footwear. The smidgen of tortoise shell, gold and red lippy is a delightful cherry-on-top, and I assure you, I’m not the only one who spotted a true individual manifested sartorially here, she was still busy posing as i left!

Moooore LFW illustrations? Even thought we are almost at PFW? Yes. Oh yes. You will see outfits from LFW for a while yet. About another 10… I have a backlog the size of an Aye-Aye’s middle finger. But where’s the problem really, when the outfits and people are so fabulous? Especially in this case. How lovely to bump into Leandra Medine, aka the Man Repeller, after the Marios Schwab presentation. Always dressed in faultless casual fabulousness, she manages to make designer clothes look the way you always hope’d they’d look on a normal person, aka you (ok ME), however somehow it always fails when you (I) try…if anyone knows her secret please fill me in. This particular delicious ensemble is one kooky mix, but its all tied together by devastatingly awesome accessories. Apart from the whimsical Stella McCartney skirt (which by the way, is sold out everywhere but available at The Outnet for under half price!), Acne denim jacket and Rosie Assoulin top (do check her out, her stuff is A-mazing), take Particular Note of that Chloe bag, -that will be mine asap thanks, oh and the Celine brogues. YUM. And just a little subtle sparkle from bangles, watch and rings. YES. I approve. Not that she needs anyone’s approval. Perhaps that’s her secret.
